A first sniffy sniff and you note that we are playing in the premier league (that league of French barriques): a medium expressive nose with lime and grapefruit on the foreground and a hint of nuts roasted in butter.

Everything backboned by some wood: toasty notes and a trace of vanilla. After walsing the nose gets a grip on creamy peaches.

Once in the mouth, you feel the firm structure of the wood aging, a bit nutty with those roasty flavors, but everything quite well integrated.

Well, if you like white wine aged in barriques this might just be your stuff. The buttery and generous fruit aromas linger in my mouth. This is a wine with quite some structure and a serious length.

Conclusion: Yammie stuff but I guess that this bottle is not on the cheap side…

Waiter please bring me a second glass (and fast)!

Some more: Gérard Bertrand was a former French national rugbyplayer and is now an acclaimed winemaker.
